Vision and mandate

The ECC-Net aims at:

  • Providing information and advice to consumers who purchase products and services in the European Union, so that they know their rights and carry out safe transactions according to effective consumer protection legislation.

  • Resolving amicably (out-of-court) cross-border consumer disputes, i.e. disputes that are generated by consumer transactions with traders in EU member-states, the United Kingdom, Norway and Iceland, outside their country of residence.

  • Promoting the interests of consumers and assuring their high-level protection, especially by fulfilling the objectives stipulated in article 3 par. 2 sec. d(i) of Regulation (EU) 2021/690.

  • Redirecting consumers to other competent bodies, if the ECC-Net is unable or unsuitable to assist with their problem.
