A Lithuanian consumer purchased shoes worth 730 euros from a Greek online store.
As from the 1st of January 2012, official operation of the Greek European Consumer Centre commenced, thus granting Greece active membership to the ECC-Network again.
The new ECC-Greece will be operating under the auspices and with the support of its host organization, the Greek Consumer Ombudsman (GCO), which consists an Independent Authority of the Greek Public Sector mandated with the out-of-court, consensual settlement of local consumer disputes.
With ECC-Greece fully operational again, EU (including Norway and Iceland) citizens will be able to resort to an effective and reliable service for the amicable settlement of their cross-border consumer disputes with Greek traders.
On the occasion of the commencement of operation of ECC-Greece, an opening event was organized on 24th of January. Mr. Evangelos Zerveas, president of Greek Consumers Ombudsman and Mr. Dimitrios Markou, deputy president of Greek Consumers Ombudsman opened the event by unfolding the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution schemes in the cross-border market through the network of European Consumer Centres (ECC-Net).
